HOME ENTRANCE PORTAL
Home was a temporary pavilion created for Forest of Imagination in 2017, at a National Trust site on the edge of Bath.
Constructed from CNC-machined plywood, the pavilion took the archetypal side profile of a house. It was built entirely from identical, interlocking blocks that slotted together to form a simple, robust structure. Acting as the main entrance portal to the site, Home invited visitors to reflect on what “home” means—both for humans and the more-than-human world—echoing the festival theme Forest on the Edge.
Inside the pavilion, a series of artworks by students from Bath Spa University 3D Design: Idea, Material, Object course explored personal and shared ideas of home.
Designed to be easily assembled, dismantled, and reused, the modular blocks went on to be reconfigured during the event as tables and seating, extending the life of the structure beyond its original form.
